Learn to Sail!

At one time, each of us was a beginner and it is never to late to start sailing.  We have two certified instructors, former national champions and numerous years of sailing experiences among our members and  almost any of our members would be happy to accompany you on your boat to teach you how to sail.  There’s a saying, “I can teach you to sail in half an hour, but it takes a lifetime to master.”  We’ll take care of the “teaching” part; the “mastering” part is up to you!

Each year the club hosts a free Introduction to Sailing in early summer to introduce people to sailing and the club. We know that sailing is a great sport and we believe it is our obligation to share our sport with as many people as possible.  During the event we offer classroom training on the basics of sailing,  a hands-on review of a working sailboat and a tip drill, where you learn to right a capsized boat (because it happens).

Once prepared with this information, we let you sail on beautiful Lake Martin on either a Sunfish or Laser sailboat.    We also provide lunch and big boat sailboat rides for those who want a more relaxed introduction.
